Now waiting to hear from Beartooth Chevrolet in Big Timber, MT. Five of the boys are stuck at the dealership with the Suburban. It looks like we will be buying a new transmission. I'm hoping it is just the transfer case control motor ($600). For now they have had a good trip but were expecting to be home today. If it's the transmission, they have to wait until Monday for parts from Denver and then still drive 20 hours to get home. Not fun from the parents point of view.

Carbon Monoxide

Jeremy shut the flue too soon last night with some wood still in the fireplace. We were made aware of the situation when Kate knocked on our door at 2 AM asking about the beeping and do we have extra smoke detectors in the basement? We had purchased the CO detector after Christmas and put it in the basement, so I guess it works. Nobody was hurt, we just opened the flue and some windows and moved Jeremy and Kate upstairs. The house smells smokey now, but it will clear up with some dusting and cleaning.

February 9

This is the day that Rachel and Zan killed an Opposum. Rachel went out to collect eggs and found the opposum in the coop and all the chickens out. It hadn't killed any chickens, but it was going through the eggs at an alarming rate. Rachel was able to close all the doors but one. She sent Zan in to get the critter. After a few trips into the coop he realized what he was supposed to do. He calmly pulled it out of the coop and when he set it down, Rachel used a baseball bat to apply some blunt force trama to the head of the marsupial. This dispatched the creature.
This was also Eli's last day of wrestling. He really wasn't having any fun with it and so we let him quit. We were the ones who made him sign up in the first place.

Kittens

This is just a quick note to myself that I need to mention five kittens born on Ashlyn's birthday on the "other" web site. Work is going well. There are scattered frost warnings for tonight! I didn't ride my motorcycle to work today because it was 37 degrees this morning.
